Journal Article Describes HemogloBind™ For Improved Cytokine Analysis
MONMOUTH JUNCTION, NJ, May 19, 2022 -- Biotech Support Group reports on a research publication describing the simplicity and efficiency of their hemoglobin depletion products for cytokine/chemokine immunoassay measurements. The citation is:
Phillippi, Danielle T., et al. "Inhaled diesel exhaust particles result in microbiome-related systemic inflammation and altered cardiovascular disease biomarkers in C57Bl/6 male mice." Particle and fibre toxicology 19.1 (2022): 1-29. Exposure to particulate matter (PM) is a known mediator of inflammation and CVD. However, the role of inhaled traffic-generated PM on the gut microbiome and its corresponding systemic effects are not well-characterized. Thus, the study investigated exposure to inhaled diesel exhaust particles (DEP) on mice. To determine systemic inflammation, following HemogloBind™ treatment, plasma concentrations of 20 Cytokines were measured using a Mouse Cytokine/Chemokine Magnetic Bead Panel; the article stating “HemogloBind was added to plasma samples (1:1 ratio), … and centrifuged for 2 min at 9000 RPMs.” Key findings were that inhaled DEP exposure alters small intestinal microbial profiles to which play a role in systemic inflammation and early CVD biomarkers. “The large amount of hemolysis in mice plasma presents a special challenge for quantitative analysis. This article is one more example of how HemogloBind™ can reduce interference from hemoglobin, without compromising the recovery and measurement of very low concentration analytes like cytokines.” states Swapan Roy, Ph.D., President and Founder of Biotech Support Group.
