Cleanascite™Employed to Investigate Lipid influences in Melasma

MONMOUTHJUNCTION, NJ, February8, 2022 -- Biotech Support Group reports on an article, describingthe simplicity and efficiency of their lipid clearance samplepreparation technology for studying theinfluence of lipids in Melasma using co-cultures with skin explants. The citation is:

Melasmais a hyper-pigmentary disorder with photoaging features, whosemanifestations appear on specific face areas, rich in sebaceousglands. To verify whether sebocyte-specific lipids could contributeto the observed changes in cell lines, the investigators tested lipiddepleted irradiated SZ95 conditioned medium to treat these cells. Forthis, the BSG product Cleanascite™ was used. The article states:“Cleanascite was added to the collected SZ95 medium in a ratio 1:4and mixed for 10 min at room temperature by gentle shaking. Followingcentrifugation (16000g) for 1 min at 4 °C, the supernatant wascarefully decanted into a clean collection vial and used forexperiments.” The authors indicate sebocytes as one of the actorsin melasma pathogenesis, inducing prolonged skin cells stimulation, contributing to localized dermal aging and hyperpigmentation.

Wehave over twenty references showing that Cleanascite™ was used tohelp identify a characteristic feature of invitrocell response. Unlike alternative lipid-depletion methods that usesolvents, Cleanascite™ is an aqueous suspension product and so itis very compatible with cellular models of disease. This ultimatelyhelps with investigations such as this, that need to determinewhether or not lipids, or factors associated with lipids, impartphenotypic changes to cells.” states Swapan Roy, Ph.D., Presidentand Founder of Biotech Support Group.
