ResearchArticle Cites Cleanascite™ To Study Diabetic Regulation
MONMOUTHJUNCTION, NJ,November16, 2018 -- Biotech Support Group reports on a recent researcharticle describing the simplicity and efficiency of their lipidclearance sample preparation technology for studying factorsassociated with interruptedglucagon signaling. The citation is:
Dean,E. Danielle, et al. "Interruptedglucagon signaling reveals hepatic α cell axis and role forL-glutamine in α cell proliferation."Cellmetabolism25.6 (2017): 1362-1373.
Decreasingglucagon action lowers blood glucose and may be usefultherapeutically for diabetes. However, interrupted glucagon signalingleads to α cell proliferation. Inthis article, the authors wanted to determine which factors affectedαcell proliferation.Thearticle states “Forlipid removal, whole mouse serum was treated with Cleanascite™reagent (Biotech Support Group, Monmouth Junction, NJ) prior to isletculture at a 1:1 ratio according to the vendor’s protocol. Lipidremoval was validated by HPLC to remove 99% of all phopsholipids, cholesterols, and triglycerides….”.Intesting whether lipids could stimulate α cell proliferation, wefound that serum activity was retained after the removal of >99%of triglycerides, cholesterols, and phospholipids. The authorsconclude that amino acids, especially L-glutamine, regulate α cellproliferation and mass via mTOR-dependent nutrient sensing.
“Thisis another application whereby using Cleanascite™demonstrates theadvantage of using an aqueous suspension product with no harmfulsolvents, to deplete lipid associated factors that may influence cellresponse investigations.” states Swapan Roy, Ph.D., President andFounder of Biotech Support Group.
