Journal Article Cites AlbuSorb™for Analysis of High-fat Diet–induced Metabolic Changes

MONMOUTHJUNCTION, NJ,March19, 2021 -- Biotech Support Group reports on a recent journal articleusing AlbuSorb™to determine the amount of circulating apoCIII in plasma, a keyregulator of lipid metabolism.

Valladolid-Acebes,Ismael, et al. "Loweringapolipoprotein CIII protects against high-fat diet–inducedmetabolic derangements." ScienceAdvances 7.11(2021): eabc2931.

Increasedlevels of apolipoprotein CIII (apoCIII), result in obesity-relatedmetabolic derangements. Using mice, the researchers investigatedmechanistically whether lowering or preventing high-fat diet (HFD)–induced increase in apoCIII, protects against the detrimentalmetabolic consequences. For Western blotting determination ofcirculating apoCIII, the article states, “plasma was albumindepleted using AlbuSorb according to the manufacturer’s protocol(Biotech Support Group LLC) and resuspended in 0.1% (v/v)trifluoroacetic acid.” The research concludes that lowering apoCIIIprotects against and reverses the HFD-induced metabolic phenotype bypromoting physiological insulin sensitivity.

Thisreference shows that AlbuSorb™ is very selective fordepleting albumin and enriching the apolipoprotein fraction includingapoCIII. Without the associated interference fromAlbumin, Western blot analysis becomes muchmore defined. Also, as our bead technology does not rely onimmuno-affinity, it works for all species; mice in this example.”,states Swapan Roy, Ph.D., President and Founder of Biotech SupportGroup.
