JournalArticle Highlights AlbuVoid™ in Cancer Functional ProteomicAnalysis
MONMOUTHJUNCTION, NJ,December8, 2015 -- BiotechSupport Group reports on a new research report which highlights thesimplicity and efficiency of their proteomic sample preparationtechnology as an initial enrichment step to the Array Bridge (St.Louis, MO) Protein Elution Plate (PEP). The combined methods supportfunctional proteomic profiling of breast cancer sera. Thecitation is:

Inthis study, a functional proteomics technology was used tosystematically monitor metabolic enzyme and protease activities fromresolved serum proteins produced by a modified 2-D gel separation andsubsequent Protein Elution Plate, a method collectively called PEP.AlbuVoid™was used to remove Albumin and enrich the low abundance serumproteome. The article states “Themost dramatic difference for enzyme activity detection in using theAlbuVoid™forserum protein enrichment was demonstrated. … Compared with thedirect serum proteinase measurement, both the levels and species ofproteases were increased significantly in the enriched serum sample.…protease activity in the direct serum analysis suggested thatthe protease levels in the serum were below the detection thresholdof protease activity…,and it is necessary to use AlbuVoid™toenrich these low level proteases to bring them to a high enough levelto be detected.” Both qualitative and quantitative differencesin the metabolic enzyme and protease activity were detected betweenbreast cancer patient and control group, providing excellentbiomarker candidates for breast cancer diagnosis and drugdevelopment.
“Weare very pleased to see that AlbuVoid™ provided the enrichmentnecessary to uncover biomarker candidates for cancer using the PEPplatform. A key feature in all of our products is to not onlyseparate proteomes but to retain the functional features of proteinsafter separations. This is important as protein conformations ishighly variable, each conformation contributes to its own uniquefunctional activity. AlbuVoid™ enrichment followed by PEP canprofile these functional activities” states Swapan Roy, Ph.D.,President and Founder of Biotech Support Group.
