Malariaresearch article cites use of HemogloBindTMin reticulocyte study

MONMOUTHJUNCTION, NJ, September 18, 2020 -- Biotech Support Group reports ona journal article
describingthe efficiency and simplicity of hemoglobin depletion products forWestern blot analysis of reticulocytes (Retics) lysates.

Theauthors describe how P.vivax-infectedRetics (iRetics) express human leukocyte antigen class I (HLA-I),which are recognized by CD8+ T cells and killed by granulysin (GNLY)and granzymes. However, how Plasmodium infection induces MHC-Iexpression on Retics is unknown. In addition, whether GNLY helpscontrol Plasmodium infection invivohas not been studied. To remove interferences associated withHemoglobin, the article states, “For western blot analysis, erythroblasts pellets were resuspended in RIPA Buffer (Sigma)…. TheRetics were treated with HemogloBind (Biotech Support Group) …”.The research results indicate that in addition to previouslydescribed mechanisms, IFN-γ promotes host resistance to theRetic-tropic P.yoelii17XNL strain by promoting MHC-I expression on iRetics that becometargets for CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes and GNLY.

BSG Hemoglobin Removal The Gold Standard Products

Iam pleased to see another use for HemogloBindTMin malaria research of reticulocytes. With the efficiency ofHemoglobin removal that our products provide, investigators can nowstudy the many aspects of red cells as they relate to disease. Finally, we can provide a simple method to remove Hemoglobininterference, as this can often be a problem with immunoassay andWestern blot analysis. Furthermore, this article demonstratescompatibilitywith the commonly used RIPA lysis buffer.”, statesSwapan Roy, Ph.D., President and Founder of Biotech Support Group.
