Cleanascite™Cited in Study of Adipocyte Lipids in the Tumor Microenvironment
MONMOUTHJUNCTION, NJ, November 18, 2025 — Biotech Support Group (BSG)reports on its proprietary lipid removal reagent, Cleanascite™,in a cell response study of CD8 + T cells in the tumormicroenvironment.
Researchersfrom Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, published anarticle entitled “Cancer-associatedadipocytes mediate CD8 + T cell dysfunction via FGF21-drivenlipolysis”,investigating whether fatty acids released by cancer-associatedadipocytes (CAAs) are critical for CD8 + T cell exhaustion in thetumor microenvironment.
Thearticle states “To determine whether fatty acids released by CAAsare critical for CD8 + T cell exhaustion, we depleted fatty acidsfrom CAA conditioned medium with Cleanascite prior to incubation withCD8 + T cells. Strikingly, fatty acid depletion in CAA-conditionedmedium resulted in decreased fatty acid uptake and lipid peroxidationin CD8 + T cells (Figure 2G). Accordingly, CAA-induced CD8 + T cellexhaustion was significantly attenuated (Figures 2H and S2G),

whereasthe cytotoxic function of CD8 + T cells was notably recovered afterfatty acid depletion (Figures 2I and S2H). These data suggest thatfatty acids from CAAs are responsible for CD8 + T cell dysfunction.”
“Hereis another excellent example of how Cleanascite™ can be used toclear lipids from conditioned media. Most importantly, this resultedin the identification of fatty acids as the determining driver for Tcell exhaustion. As a solid-phase suspension, Cleanascite™ isperfectly suited to investigate lipid influences on cell responseassays such as this.” stated Dr. Swapan Roy, President and Founderof Biotech Support Group.
