ResearchArticle Cites Cleanascite™ for Macrophage Characterization ofSebum Lipids

MONMOUTHJUNCTION, NJ,July12, 2017 -- Biotech Support Group reports on a recent researcharticle describing the simplicity and efficiency of their lipidremoval sample preparation product for the differentiation andactivation of macrophages based on a sebum lipid profile.

Lovászi,M., et al. "Sebum lipids influence macrophage polarization andactivation." BritishJournal of Dermatology(2017). doi:10.1111/bjd.15754.

Thearticle’s authors report on sebum lipids contributing to thedifferentiation, polarization and function of macrophages. In orderto determine the role of specific lipids, lipid removal wasinvestigated from supernatants of the immortalized human SZ95sebocytes, as stated, “For lipid depletion of the supernatantsCleanascite lipid clarification reagent (Biotech Support Group,Monmouth Junction, NJ, USA) was used according to the manufacturer’sinstructions. Lipids; squalene, linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmiticacid and stearic acid (Sigma-Aldrich); were replaced individuallysubsequent to lipid depletion in a concentration of 150
μM.”.The authors concluded a role for sebaceous glands in modulatingimmune responses via their secreted lipids that are of possiblepathologic and therapeutic relevance.

Iam very pleased that this reference shows yet another sample typesuitable for the selective efficiency of Cleanascite™,that is to remove sebum lipids for subsequent analysis usingimmunoassays.” states Swapan Roy, Ph.D., President and Founderof Biotech Support Group.
