Q: I want to purify virus from tissue homogenates. Does Viraffinity™ cellular debris (nuclei, mitochondria, and ribosomes) containing nucleic acids be eliminated from the preparation.
A: The Viraffinity/ViraPrep protocol starts with clarified homogenates, so cellular debris should be removed in this step either by centrifigation or microfiltration. Any remaining soluble material, especially nucleic acids and most protein, should be removed from sample after use of the Viraffinity/ViraPrep protocol.
