A New Functional Proteomic Profiling Method

A New Functional Proteomic Profiling Method

ProFACT Proteomics a strategic partner of Biotech Support Group has introduced SeraFILE™ - a proprietary surface library that generates differential protein pools in an automated system, while retaining biological activity. Being amenable to a variety of downstream analyses, SeraFILE™ combines elements of biochemical and functional profiling quantitatively providing a modality that is open-ended and industrially productive with reduced protein complexity. New profiling techniques are now available which generate signatures across a multiplicity of sub-proteomes and interrogations along with a means to characterize enzyme regulation and related functional sub-states from disease. SeraFILE™enables discovery strategies that enrich catalytic activity and directly couple to drug development thereby leading proteomic researchers to new pre-clinical drug development tools, theranostic protein signatures, and functional biomarkers.

One example is Dr. Madura’s research involving the Ubiquitin/Proteasome Pathway, which degrades and eliminates unwanted or misformed proteins and is thus essential to cell function. Dr. Madura is the Director of the Program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, an affiliate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. By incorporating SeraFILE™, key elements of this pathway may be revealed. “Our goal is to generate new cancer profiles, and ultimately, new diagnostics and therapeutics down the road” said Dr. Madura.

As nothing is discarded, through pool recombinations, Rational Proteome Prospecting™ techniques can be applied to discover important enzyme regulating factors. SeraFILE™ can be advantageous in common proteomic investigations using 1DE/2DE/Mass Spec, or through ProFACT’s proprietary menu of services.
